1. Change stacking order from Picture Tools

Entry path: Select a picture → Picture Tools tab → Bring Forward or Send Backward

  1. Select the picture whose order you want to change.
  2. Click the Picture Tools tab at the top of the window.
  3. Click Bring Forward or Send Backward to open the related commands.
  4. Select Bring Forward, Send Backward, Bring to Front, or Send to Back as needed.

Success Criteria

  • Visual result: The selected picture changes its front-to-back position on the slide.
  • Next step available: You can continue resizing, moving, or adjusting the picture again.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If no picture is selected, the command may not be available.
  • Environment note: The result is easier to see when at least two overlapping objects are on the slide.

2. Change stacking order from the Home tab

Entry path: Home tab → Arrange

  1. Select the picture whose order you want to change.
  2. Click the Home tab.
  3. Click Arrange to open the drop-down menu.
  4. Select Bring to Front, Send to Back, Bring Forward, or Send Backward.

Success Criteria

  • Visual result: The overlap relationship of the picture changes on the current slide.
  • Next step available: You can continue using related arrangement commands such as alignment or grouping from the same menu.

  • Common mistake: If there is only one object on the slide, the visual change may be hard to notice.

3. Change stacking order from the floating toolbar

Entry path: Select a picture → Floating toolbar → Stacking Order

  1. Select the picture whose order you want to change.
  2. Click Stacking Order on the floating toolbar.
  3. Select Bring to Front, Send to Back, Bring Forward, or Send Backward.

  • Visual result: You can change the layer order without switching to the top ribbon.

4. Quickly change front-to-back order from the right-click menu

Entry path: Right-click menu on the picture

  1. Select the picture whose order you want to change.
  2. Right-click the picture.
  3. Select Bring to Front or Send to Back from the menu.
  4. If needed, continue with Bring Forward or Send Backward for finer adjustment.

  • Visual result: The picture order updates immediately after the right-click action.
