How-to Index

How-to Guide

1. Set Horizontal Position

Entry path: Select the picture → Object Properties → Size & Properties → Position

  1. Select the picture you want to adjust.
  2. Click Object Properties in the task pane to open the side pane.
  3. Click Size & Properties.
  4. Expand Position.
  5. Enter the required value in Horizontal Position in centimeters.

Success Criteria

  • Visual result: The picture moves left or right on the slide.
  • Next action available: You can continue entering values to fine-tune the picture position.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the picture is not selected first, the picture properties may not appear in the side pane.
  • Environment note: If the value is too large or too small, the picture may move outside the visible slide area.

2. Set Vertical Position

Entry path: Select the picture → Object Properties → Size & Properties → Position

  1. Select the picture you want to adjust.
  2. Open the Object Properties side pane.
  3. Go to Size & Properties and expand Position.
  4. Enter the required value in Vertical Position in centimeters.

Success Criteria

  • Visual result: The picture moves up or down on the slide.
  • Next action available: You can combine this with horizontal positioning for more precise layout control.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Adjusting only the vertical value may still leave the picture outside the intended layout.
  • Environment note: Negative values may place part of the picture outside the slide area.

3. Choose a Position Reference Point

Entry path: Select the picture → Object Properties → Size & Properties → Position

  1. Select the picture you want to adjust.
  2. Open Object Properties and go to Size & Properties.
  3. Expand Position.
  4. In Relative to, choose a reference point such as Top-left or Center.
  5. Combine the setting with horizontal and vertical values and observe the result.

Success Criteria

  • Visual result: The same coordinate values produce different placement results when a different reference point is selected.
  • Next action available: You can switch the reference point and enter new values based on the slide layout you need.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: After changing the reference point, users may forget to recheck the coordinate values.
  • Environment note: The reference point changes how coordinates are calculated, so decide the layout basis before setting values.
