How-to Guide
1. Create New Object
Entry point: top menu bar Insert tab → Object button
- Click the Insert tab on the top menu bar.
- Click the Object button.
- In the Insert Object dialog box, select the Create New option.
- In the object type list, choose the object type you want to create, such as a DOC document, DOCX document, Microsoft Excel worksheet, Microsoft Excel chart, or Microsoft PowerPoint slide.
- Click OK to finish inserting the object.
Success Criteria
- UI state: A newly inserted object or object area appears on the current slide.
- Next actions: You can continue to move or resize the object, or double-click it to enter the related editing state.
Tips While Using
- Common mistakes: If you do not select the target slide first, the object may be inserted on a different slide than expected.
- Environment limits: The display result of different object types may depend on available local components and file compatibility.
2. Create from File
Entry point: top menu bar Insert tab → Object button → Create from File
- Click the Object button.
- In the Insert Object dialog box, select the Create from File option.
- Click Browse and choose the file you want to insert.
- If needed, select the Link option to create a linked object.
- Click OK to finish inserting the object.
Success Criteria
- UI state: The slide shows the inserted file as object content or as an object icon.
- Next actions: You can continue to move the object, adjust the layout, or open the object content when supported.
Tips While Using
- Common mistakes: If you choose a file but close the dialog box before confirming, the object will not be added.
- Environment limits: If you use a linked object, later changes to the original file path may affect access.
