1. Add an Entrance Animation

Entry path: Animation tab → Animation gallery

  1. Select the object that you want to animate.
  2. Click the Animation tab at the top.
  3. Click the drop-down button on the right side of the animation gallery to open the full gallery.
  4. Choose the Entrance category.
  5. Click the effect you want to apply to the selected object.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: An animation number appears next to the object, and the object appears with the selected effect during playback.
  • What you can do next: You can add more effects to the same object or continue adjusting timing settings.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the object is not selected first, the animation will not be applied to the intended content.

2. Add an Emphasis Animation

Entry path: Animation tab → Animation gallery

  1. Select an object that is already visible on the slide.
  2. Open the full animation gallery from the Animation tab.
  3. Choose the Emphasis category.
  4. Click the emphasis effect you want.
  5. Preview the result and continue adjusting it if needed.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The object shows a highlight-style effect during playback.
  • What you can do next: You can continue setting direction, sound, or start mode.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Emphasis effects are for objects that are already on the slide, not for the first appearance of an object.

3. Add an Exit Animation

Entry path: Animation tab → Animation gallery

  1. Select the target object.
  2. Click the Animation tab.
  3. Expand the animation gallery.
  4. Choose the Exit category.
  5. Select the exit effect and apply it.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The object disappears with the selected effect at the corresponding playback step.
  • What you can do next: You can continue adjusting exit timing, speed, and repeat settings.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the object does not disappear as expected, check the start mode and animation order.

4. Add a Motion Path Animation

Entry path: Animation tab → Animation gallery

  1. Select the target object.
  2. Open the full animation gallery.
  3. Choose Motion Paths or Draw Custom Path.
  4. Select a preset path, or draw a custom movement path as needed.
  5. Apply the effect and preview the object movement.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The object moves along the selected path.
  • What you can do next: You can continue adjusting path-related effects and timing settings.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the path direction is not what you expected, choose another path or adjust the related effect options.

5. Adjust Animation Settings

Entry path: Animation tab → Expand button in the animation group

  1. Select an object that already has an animation.
  2. Click the expand button in the lower-right corner of the animation effects group.
  3. Open the More Effect Options dialog box.
  4. On the Effect tab, set direction, enhancements, sound, after-animation behavior, and text effect options.
  5. On the Timing tab, set start mode, delay, speed, repeat, and triggers.
  6. On the Text Animation tab, set options such as grouped text and interval behavior.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The updated animation settings match the preview result.
  • What you can do next: You can return to the slide and continue editing other object animations.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you do not preview after changing settings, pacing or sequence issues may be harder to notice in time.
