- In the dialog box, select Structure to lock actions such as adding, deleting, moving, renaming, hiding, or unhiding sheets.
- If needed, select Windows to also lock window size and position.
- Enter a password and confirm it.
- Click OK, then save the file so the protection setting takes effect.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The workbook is now in a protected state.
- What you can do next: You can continue editing cell content and save the file.
- No unwanted effect: Sheet-structure actions remain restricted until protection is removed.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If you do not save the file after setting protection, the change may not be written to the workbook.

- Click Unprotect Workbook on the Review tab.
- Enter the password that was set earlier.

- No unwanted effect: Removing workbook protection does not automatically change cell content.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: Entering the wrong password prevents the workbook from being unprotected.
- Environment note: If the password is forgotten, confirm the original password before continuing.
