  1. Open a WPS spreadsheet file on your iOS device.
  2. Tap Tools at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Tap Brush in the tool panel.
  4. Turn on Use Finger if needed.
  5. Enter Brush editing mode and get ready to mark up the sheet.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The Brush editing interface is open.
  • Next action available: You can choose a pen type or start drawing on the sheet.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If no spreadsheet file is open first, you may not reach the Brush workflow.
  • Environment note: On smaller screens, landscape view can make the sheet area easier to review.

2. Choose a markup type and start drawing

Entry path: Tools → Brush → Markup type

  1. After entering the Brush interface, review the available markup types.
  2. Select Draw Notes, Highlight, Strikethrough, Underline, or Signature.
  3. Drag your finger or stylus above the spreadsheet to draw.
  4. Adjust the marked area as needed to complete the annotation.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The selected ink or markup appears above the spreadsheet.
  • Next action available: You can switch to another markup type or change the style settings.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Underline and Strikethrough are often used for emphasis, so confirm the target area before drawing.
  • Environment note: Finger input may offer less precise control than a stylus.

3. Change Brush options

Entry path: Brush editing interface → Drawing board button at the lower left

  1. In the Brush editing interface, tap the drawing board button at the lower left.
  2. Select a standard pen or brush in the options panel.
  3. Switch between hard tip and soft tip effects as needed.
  4. Choose a color such as red, blue, green, or black.
  5. Use smart shape recognition if you want more regular shapes.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The current brush style, color, or tip effect is updated.
  • Next action available: New strokes will follow the updated settings.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: After changing styles, test one stroke in a blank area before marking important content.
  • Environment note: Touch precision can vary by device and may affect stroke detail.

4. Erase ink or exit Brush mode

Entry path: Brush editing interface → Eraser / Clear Screen / Done

  1. To remove part of the ink, select Eraser in the Brush editing page.
  2. Drag over the area you want to remove.
  3. To remove the current page markup at once, select Clear Screen.
  4. When you finish editing, tap Done in the upper-right corner to exit Brush mode.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: Unneeded ink is erased, or Brush editing mode is closed.
  • Next action available: You can continue viewing, editing, or sharing the spreadsheet.
  • No side effect: The original cell content and formatting remain unchanged.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Before using Clear Screen, confirm that all current marks can be removed.
  • Environment note: Before exiting, check whether the important markup is still complete.
