Use Trace Dependent Cells with 2 how-to topics, both available without membership, and jump from the index to the exact steps you need.
How-to Index
| No. | Topic | Membership Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1. Trace Dependent Cells | Free |
| 2 | 2. Remove Trace Arrows | Free |
How-to Guide
1. Trace Dependent Cells
Entry: Formulas tab → Trace Dependent Cells
- Select the cell you want to inspect.
- Click Trace Dependent Cells on the Formulas tab.
- Review the generated arrows. The cells pointed to by the arrows are the dependent cells that reference the current cell.
- If you want to see deeper dependency levels, click Trace Dependent Cells again.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: arrows appear in the worksheet to show dependent relationships for the selected cell.
- Next action: you can continue tracing more levels or switch to removing arrows.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: if you do not select the target cell first, the tracing result may not match what you want to inspect.
- Environment note: if no formulas reference the current cell, WPS will indicate that there are no formulas that refer to it.
2. Remove Trace Arrows
Entry: Formulas tab → drop-down arrow next to Remove Arrows
- Click the drop-down arrow next to Remove Arrows on the Formulas tab.
- Select Remove Dependent Trace Arrows to clear only dependent tracing.
- Select Remove Precedent Trace Arrows to clear only precedent tracing.
- Select Remove Arrows to clear all trace marks at once.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: the selected type of trace arrows disappears from the worksheet.
- Next action: after clearing arrows, you can run tracing again for other cells.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: choosing Remove Arrows clears all visible trace marks at once.
- Environment note: removing arrows affects only the current visual audit marks and does not change cell data or formula results.
