1. Insert CORREL from the Insert Function dialog

Entry point: Formula tab → Insert Function

  1. Select the cell where you want to enter the formula.
  2. Click the fx button in the formula bar, or click Insert Function on the Formula tab.
  3. Search for CORREL in the Insert Function dialog.
  4. Select the function and click OK.
  5. Enter each parameter in the Function Arguments dialog.
  6. Click OK to finish entering the function.

Success Criteria

  • The current cell contains the CORREL function.
  • You can continue editing parameters or review the calculation result.

Tips While Using

  • Use English commas as separators between parameters.
  • If parameters include text or extra spaces, the formula may return an error or an unexpected result.

2. Type the CORREL formula directly in a cell

Entry point: Cell → Formula bar

  1. Select the cell where you want to enter the formula.
  2. Type =CORREL(...) directly in the cell or in the formula bar.
  3. Press Enter to confirm.
  4. If you want to review parameter guidance, type =CORREL( and then press F1.

Success Criteria

  • The cell accepts the formula entry.
  • After you press Enter, the cell shows a result or keeps the editable formula.

Tips While Using

  • Keep the separator in the formula as an English comma.
  • Before filling the formula across cells, check whether relative and absolute references are set as expected.

3. Review CORREL syntax and parameter guidance

Entry point: Formula tab → Insert Function

  1. Click Insert Function on the Formula tab.
  2. Enter CORREL in the search box.
  3. Select the function and review the syntax: CORREL(...).
  4. Click the help link for the function to open more detailed guidance.

Success Criteria

  • You can see the CORREL function name and syntax prompt.
  • You can continue entering the formula based on the parameter guidance.
