1. Insert CHITEST from the Insert Function dialog box

Entry path: Formulas tab → Insert Function

  1. Select the cell where you want to enter the formula.
  2. Click the fx button in the formula bar, or click Insert Function on the Formulas tab.
  3. Search for CHITEST in the Insert Function dialog box.
  4. Select the function and click OK.
  5. Enter each parameter in the Function Arguments dialog box.
  6. Click OK to finish entering the function.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The target cell now contains a CHITEST formula.
  • What you can do next: You can continue editing parameters, copy the formula, or review the calculation result.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the function name is entered incorrectly, the search may not return the target function.
  • Environment note: If the worksheet is protected, you may not be able to edit the cell directly.

2. Type the formula directly in a cell

Entry path: Cell → Formula bar

  1. Select the cell where you want to enter the formula.
  2. Type =CHITEST(...) directly in the cell or in the formula bar.
  3. Press Enter to confirm.
  4. If you want to review parameter guidance, type =CHITEST( and press F1 to view syntax help.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The cell shows the calculation result, and the full formula remains visible in the formula bar.

3. Review function syntax and parameter guidance

Entry path: Formulas tab → Insert Function

  1. Click Insert Function on the Formulas tab.
  2. Enter CHITEST in the search box.
  3. Select the function to review the syntax CHITEST(...).
  4. Click the help link for that function to open more detailed guidance.
