1. Insert CELL from the Insert Function dialog

Entry path: Formula tab → Insert Function

  1. Select the cell where you want to enter the formula.
  2. Click the fx button in the formula bar, or click Insert Function on the Formula tab.
  3. Search for CELL in the dialog box.
  4. Select the function and click OK.
  5. Enter the required parameters in the Function Arguments dialog.
  6. Click OK to finish entering the formula.

Success Criteria

  • The selected cell shows a CELL formula.
  • The formula bar displays the full formula.
  • The worksheet returns a result after the formula is confirmed.

Tips While Using

  • Search with the English function name CELL.
  • Check each parameter carefully before confirming the dialog.

2. Type the formula directly in a cell

Entry path: Cell area → Formula bar

  1. Select the cell where you want to enter the formula.
  2. Type =CELL(...) directly in the cell or in the formula bar.
  3. Press Enter to confirm.
  4. If needed, review the on-screen prompt after typing =CELL( to see how to use the CELL function in WPS on Windows.

Success Criteria

  • The cell displays the formula result.
  • The formula bar keeps the full =CELL(...) formula.
  • The worksheet calculates normally after you press Enter.

Tips While Using

  • Use English punctuation for separators in the formula.
  • If you copy the formula to other cells, check whether relative or absolute references should be adjusted.

3. Review CELL syntax and parameters

Entry path: Formula tab → Insert Function

  1. Click Insert Function on the Formula tab.
  2. Enter CELL in the search box.
  3. Select the function and review the syntax CELL(...).
  4. Open the related help entry if you need more parameter details.

Success Criteria

  • You can see the syntax structure for CELL.
  • You can review the parameter area or help details.
  • You can continue entering the formula after checking the syntax.
