1. Insert ATANH from the Insert Function dialog box

Entry path: Formula tab → Insert Function, or the fx button in the formula bar

  1. Select the cell where you want to enter the formula.
  2. Click the fx button in the formula bar, or click Insert Function on the Formula tab.
  3. Search for ATANH in the Insert Function dialog box.
  4. Select the function and click OK.
  5. Enter each parameter in the Function Arguments dialog box.
  6. Click OK to finish inserting the function.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The target cell contains the ATANH function.
  • Next action available: You can continue editing parameters, copying the formula, or reviewing the result.

Tips While Using

  • Searching with the uppercase function name can help you find it faster.
  • Parameters should be numeric values or references that can participate in calculation.

2. Type the formula directly in a cell

Entry path: Cell → Formula bar

  1. Select the cell where you want to enter the formula.
  2. Type =ATANH(...) directly in the cell or the formula bar.
  3. Press Enter to confirm.
  4. If you want to review parameter details, type =ATANH( and press F1 to view syntax help.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The cell shows the calculation result, and the formula bar keeps the full formula.
  • Next action available: You can drag the fill handle or copy the formula to other cells.

Tips While Using

  • Use an English comma as the parameter separator.
  • If the cell content is treated as text, the formula may not calculate correctly.

3. Review function syntax and parameter details

Entry path: Formula tab → Insert Function

  1. Click Insert Function on the Formula tab.
  2. Enter ATANH in the search box.
  3. Select the function and review the syntax: ATANH(number).
  4. Click the help link for the function to open more details.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: You can see the function name, syntax, and parameter details.
  • Next action available: You can return to the worksheet and continue entering or editing the formula.
