1. Enter the function from the Insert Function dialog box

Entry path: Formulas tab → Insert Function

  1. Select the cell where you want to enter the formula.
  2. Click the fx button in the formula bar, or click Insert Function on the Formulas tab.
  3. Search for AMORDEGRC in the Insert Function dialog box.
  4. Select the function and click OK.
  5. Enter each parameter in the Function Arguments dialog box.
  6. Click OK to insert the function.

Success Criteria

  • The target cell contains the AMORDEGRC function.
  • After the parameters are entered, the cell returns a calculation result.

Tips While Using

  • Separate parameters with English commas.
  • Keep date and numeric parameters in valid calculable formats.

2. Type the formula directly in a cell

Entry path: Cell → Formula bar

  1. Select the cell where you want to enter the formula.
  2. Type =AMORDEGRC(...) directly in the cell or in the formula bar.
  3. Press Enter to confirm.
  4. If you want to review parameter guidance, type =AMORDEGRC( and press F1.

Success Criteria

  • The cell shows the complete formula.
  • Pressing Enter returns a calculated result instead of plain text.

Tips While Using

  • Start the formula with an equal sign =.
  • If the result does not calculate, check the cell format and parameter order.

3. Review the function syntax and parameter details

Entry path: Formulas tab → Insert Function

  1. Click Insert Function on the Formulas tab.
  2. Type AMORDEGRC in the search box.
  3. Select the function and review the syntax: AMORDEGRC(cost, date_purchased, first_period, salvage, period, rate, [basis]).
  4. Click the help link for the function to review more details.

Success Criteria

  • You can see the full syntax and parameter order.
  • You can continue entering parameters or correct an existing formula based on the displayed details.

Tips While Using

  • The optional parameter [basis] is not required in every case.
  • Check the parameter order carefully before confirming the formula.
