How-to Guide

1. Use Certificate Encryption

Entry path: Protect → Certificate Encryption

  1. Open the PDF file that you want to encrypt.
  2. Click the Protect tab on the top menu bar.
  3. Click Certificate Encryption on the toolbar.
  4. Select a digital certificate in the dialog box.
  5. Choose an existing certificate from certificate storage, or import a new certificate file.
  6. Set the encryption options and permissions.
  7. Click OK to finish encryption.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The certificate encryption settings are applied and the PDF enters a protected state.
  • What you can do next: You can continue saving, sharing, or reopening the PDF.

2. Add a Certificate

Entry path: Protect → Certificate Encryption → Add Certificate

  1. Open any PDF file that you want to use for certificate encryption.
  2. Click Certificate Encryption to open the certificate selection screen.
  3. Click Add Certificate.
  4. Browse for and select a certificate file in .pfx or .p12 format.
  5. Enter the certificate password for verification.
  6. After the certificate is added successfully, select it for later encryption.
