How-to Guide

1. Enter measurement mode

Entry path: Annotate → Measurement Tool

  1. Open the PDF file that you want to measure.
  2. Click the Annotate tab on the top menu bar.
  3. Click Measurement Tool.
  4. Confirm that the measurement toolbar appears at the top, including options such as distance, perimeter, and area.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The measurement toolbar appears at the top of the window.
  • Next action available: You can continue with distance, perimeter, area, or scale settings.

Tips While Using

  • Membership: Entering measurement mode requires membership access for PDF editing.

2. Measure distance

Entry path: Measurement toolbar → Distance

  1. Click Distance on the measurement toolbar.
  2. Click the starting point on the page.
  3. Drag to the ending point and release the mouse.
  4. Review the measured distance on the page and the detailed values at the lower right, including distance, angle, △X, and △Y.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: A distance measurement line appears on the page.
  • Next action available: You can review the detailed measurement values.

3. Measure perimeter

Entry path: Measurement toolbar → Perimeter

  1. Click Perimeter on the measurement toolbar.
  2. Click each point on the page in sequence.
  3. Double-click or press Enter to finish the measurement.
  4. Review the perimeter result shown on the page.

  • Interface result: A multi-point measurement path appears on the page.

4. Measure area

Entry path: Measurement toolbar → Area

  1. Click Area on the measurement toolbar.
  2. Click each point on the page in sequence.
  3. Double-click or press Enter to finish the measurement.
  4. Review the area result shown on the page.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: A closed region and its area result appear on the page.
  • Next action available: You can measure another region or reset the scale ratio and measure again.

5. Set a scale ratio

Entry path: Measurement toolbar → Scale Ratio

  1. Click Scale Ratio on the measurement toolbar.
  2. Set the ratio between the real size and the document size in the dialog box.
  3. Confirm the setting and return to the document page.
  4. Continue with distance, perimeter, or area measurement and review the scaled result.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: Later measurement results follow the scale ratio you set.
