How-to Guide

1. Extract Text from Image

Entry path: Home tab → Recognition Extraction → Extract Text from Image

  1. Click the Home tab on the top menu bar.
  2. Click the Recognition Extraction button on the toolbar.
  3. Select Extract Text from Image from the drop-down menu.
  4. In the dialog box, choose an image file that contains text.
  5. Wait while WPS runs OCR on the image.
  6. Review the extracted text in the results pane after recognition is complete.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The results pane displays the recognized text.
  • Next action available: You can select the text and copy it into another document.

Tips While Using

  • Permissions or membership: This feature requires membership for PDF editing-related use.
  • File quality: Clearer text in the image usually makes the result easier to use directly.
  • Proofreading: Review and correct the recognized text before reusing it.

2. Extract Text from Screenshot

Entry path: Home tab → Recognition Extraction → Extract Text from Screenshot

  1. Click the Recognition Extraction button.
  2. Select Extract Text from Screenshot from the drop-down menu.
  3. Use the screenshot tool to capture the area that contains text.
  4. Wait while WPS runs OCR on the captured content.
  5. Review the extracted text in the results pane after recognition is complete.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The results pane displays the text recognized from the selected screenshot area.
  • Next action available: You can copy the result and paste it into a document, spreadsheet, or chat window.
