1. Set Text Direction

Entry point: Page tab → Text Direction drop-down menu

  1. Open the document you want to edit.
  2. Click the Page tab.
  3. Click the Text Direction drop-down menu.
  4. Select the preset direction you want, such as Horizontal, Vertical (Left to Right), or Vertical (Right to Left).

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The text in the document is rearranged in the selected direction.
  • Next actions: You can continue editing, save the file, or adjust other page settings.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If the editing position is not set correctly first, the formatting range may not match your expectation.
  • Environment limits: The document must be open in WPS Writer and remain editable.

2. Customize Text Direction

Entry point: Page tab → Text Direction drop-down menu → Text Direction Options

  1. Open the document you want to edit.
  2. Click the Text Direction drop-down menu on the Page tab.
  3. Select Text Direction Options.
  4. In the dialog box, choose the text display direction.
  5. Set the apply range, such as the whole document or content after the insertion point.
  6. Click OK to finish the setting.
