How-to Guide
1. Show or hide Task Pane
Feature entry: View tab → Show → Task Pane
- Open a WPS Writer document.
- Click the View tab on the top menu bar.
- In the Show area, select the Task Pane checkbox to display the pane on the right side.
- To hide it, clear the Task Pane checkbox.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The Task Pane appears or disappears on the right side of the document window.
- Next action available: After it appears, you can continue choosing a specific function inside the pane.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: Switching to another tab does not close the Task Pane. You need to clear the related checkbox.
- Environment note: If the window is narrow, the visible area of the right-side pane may be smaller.
2. Turn on Task Pane through Options
Feature entry: File → Options → View → Task Pane
- In WPS Writer, click File.
- Click Options.
- Open the View tab.
- Select the Task Pane checkbox.
- Click OK to save the setting.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: After the setting is saved, the Task Pane is displayed according to the current option.
- Next action available: After you return to the document window, you can use functions in the Task Pane directly.

- Common mistake: If you do not click OK, the setting is not saved.

3. Choose a function panel in Task Pane

- Show the Task Pane first by using one of the methods above.
- In the Task Pane, click the function you want to use.
- Switch to different panels as needed, such as Styles and Formatting, Selection Pane, Properties, Beautification Assistant, or Help Center.
- If you want to adjust what is shown, click Manage Task Pane to customize the displayed functions.
