1. Show or hide Task Pane

Feature entry: View tab → ShowTask Pane

  1. Open a WPS Writer document.
  2. Click the View tab on the top menu bar.
  3. In the Show area, select the Task Pane checkbox to display the pane on the right side.
  4. To hide it, clear the Task Pane checkbox.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The Task Pane appears or disappears on the right side of the document window.
  • Next action available: After it appears, you can continue choosing a specific function inside the pane.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Switching to another tab does not close the Task Pane. You need to clear the related checkbox.
  • Environment note: If the window is narrow, the visible area of the right-side pane may be smaller.

2. Turn on Task Pane through Options

  1. In WPS Writer, click File.
  2. Click Options.
  3. Open the View tab.
  4. Select the Task Pane checkbox.
  5. Click OK to save the setting.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: After the setting is saved, the Task Pane is displayed according to the current option.
  • Next action available: After you return to the document window, you can use functions in the Task Pane directly.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you do not click OK, the setting is not saved.
  • Environment note: You need to be able to open the program options window normally.

3. Choose a function panel in Task Pane

  1. Show the Task Pane first by using one of the methods above.
  2. In the Task Pane, click the function you want to use.
  3. Switch to different panels as needed, such as Styles and Formatting, Selection Pane, Properties, Beautification Assistant, or Help Center.
  4. If you want to adjust what is shown, click Manage Task Pane to customize the displayed functions.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The right-side Task Pane switches to the selected function panel.
  • Next action available: You can continue viewing information or performing related actions in the current panel.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the Task Pane is not shown first, you cannot switch among its internal function panels directly.
