How-to Guide

1. Show or Hide Table Gridlines

Entry point: View → Table Gridlines

  1. Open a WPS Docs document that contains a table.
  2. Click the View tab in the top menu bar.
  3. Select Table Gridlines to show the outlines of cells without solid borders.
  4. Clear Table Gridlines to hide the gridline display.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: Cells without visible borders show or hide auxiliary dashed outlines.
  • Next actions: You can continue editing the table, adjust borders, or open print preview.
  • No side effects: Gridlines remain an editing aid and do not become printed borders by themselves.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: Mistaking table gridlines for actual table borders.
  • Tip: If you need borders to print, add solid borders through the border settings.
  • Scenario note: For borderless tables copied from other software, turning on gridlines makes cell ranges easier to identify.
