How-to Index

How-to Guide

1. Set pagination options

Entry: Home → Paragraph group dialog launcher → Line and Page Breaks

  1. Select the paragraph you want to change. To apply the setting to the whole document, select all content first.
  2. Click the Home tab on the top menu bar.
  3. Click the dialog launcher in the Paragraph group.
  4. Open the Line and Page Breaks tab in the Paragraph dialog box.
  5. Under Pagination, select the options you need: Widow/Orphan control, Keep with next, Keep lines together, or Page break before.
  6. Click OK.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The selected pagination options are enabled for the target paragraph.
  • Next action available: You can continue editing, saving, or printing the document.
  • No side effect: Unselected paragraphs do not change automatically.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you do not select the target paragraph first, the setting may not apply where you expect.
  • Environment note: These options require an editable document.

2. Adjust wrap settings

Entry: Home → Paragraph group dialog launcher → Line and Page Breaks

  1. Select the target paragraph.
  2. Click Home and open the Paragraph dialog box.
  3. Switch to the Line and Page Breaks tab.
  4. In the wrap-related area, adjust options such as Chinese character rules, mid-word wrapping in Latin text, and punctuation overflow.
  5. In the spacing area, adjust punctuation compression and spacing between Chinese text, Latin text, and numbers as needed.
  6. If needed, choose a text alignment mode from the drop-down list.
  7. Click OK to apply the changes.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The paragraph shows updated wrap or spacing behavior.
  • Next action available: You can continue typing and review the layout result.
  • No side effect: Paragraphs that were not edited keep their original settings.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Changing only one option in a mixed-language document may not produce the full layout effect you want.

3. Insert line breaks and page breaks quickly

Entry: Insert → Breaks drop-down menu

  1. Place the cursor where you want to insert a break.
  2. Click the Insert tab.
  3. Open the Breaks drop-down menu.
  4. Select the break type you need, such as Page Break, Column Break, Line Break, Next Page Section Break, Continuous Section Break, Even Page Section Break, or Odd Page Section Break.
  5. If needed, use Show/Hide Paragraph Marks on the Home tab to check the inserted position.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The selected break appears in the document.
  • Next action available: You can continue editing the next page or section.
  • No side effect: Existing body text is not removed.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the cursor is in the wrong place, the break will be inserted in the wrong location.
