1. Insert a basic text box

Entry: Insert → Text Box

  1. Open the WPS Writer document that you want to edit.
  2. Click the Insert tab on the top menu bar.
  3. Click Text Box.
  4. Drag in the document area to draw the text box.
  5. Type the content inside the text box.

Success Criteria

  • A visible text box appears in the document.
  • You can place the cursor inside the box and continue typing.

Tips While Using

  • If you do not drag on the page, the text box may not appear at the size you expect.

2. Choose a horizontal or vertical text box

Entry: Insert → Text Box

  1. Click Text Box under the Insert tab.
  2. Choose a horizontal text box or a vertical text box.
  3. Drag in the document to draw the box.
  4. Type text and confirm that the direction fits your layout.

Success Criteria

  • The text box is inserted with the selected direction.
  • You can continue typing, moving, or resizing the box.

Tips While Using

  • If you do not choose a direction first, the default text box style may be inserted.

3. Use more text box resources

Entry: Insert → Text Box → More Text Boxes

  1. Click the Insert tab.
  2. Click Text Box.
  3. Select More Text Boxes.
  4. Browse the available preset text box resources and choose a style.
  5. Insert the selected resource into the current document.

Success Criteria

  • The selected preset text box style appears in the document.
  • You can type in the inserted resource or replace its text.

  • Membership: Some text box resources require membership access.

4. Adjust text box style and text formatting

Entry: Select the text box and adjust its style

  1. Select the text box in the document.
  2. Change the border color.
  3. Change the fill color.
  4. Adjust the font size, color, or other text formatting inside the box.
  5. Move the text box to the right position for your layout.

  • The border, fill, or text style changes as expected.
