How-to Guide
1. Apply a Drop Cap
Feature path: Insert → Drop Cap
- Select the paragraph where you want to apply the drop cap, or place the cursor inside that paragraph.
- Click the Insert tab at the top of the window.
- Click Drop Cap.
- Select the style you want and apply it to the current paragraph.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The first character of the paragraph appears enlarged.
- Next action available: You can continue editing the paragraph or adjust other formatting settings.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If the paragraph starts with a space or another blank character, the effect may not display as expected.
- Environment note: This action must be performed in an editable Writer document.
2. Remove a Drop Cap
Feature path: Insert → Drop Cap
- Select the paragraph that already has a drop cap, or place the cursor inside that paragraph.
- Click the Insert tab.
- Click Drop Cap.
- Select None or the corresponding remove option to restore normal text display.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The first character returns to normal size and position.
- Next action available: You can apply a different drop cap style or continue editing the document.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: Make sure the cursor is inside the paragraph where the drop cap has already been applied.
