How-to Guide

1. Apply Drop Cap

Entry point: Insert → Drop Cap

  1. Select the paragraph where you want to apply Drop Cap, or place the cursor inside that paragraph.
  2. Click the Insert tab and find Drop Cap.
  3. Choose Dropped or Hanging in the position options.
  4. Adjust the font, dropped lines, and distance from text as needed.
  5. Click OK to finish.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The first character of the paragraph appears enlarged and follows the selected style.
  • Next actions: You can continue editing the document or reopen the Drop Cap settings to adjust them.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If there is a space, tab, or other blank character before the first visible character, the effect may not apply as expected.
  • Environment limits: Make sure the current document is editable.

2. Remove Drop Cap

Entry point: Insert → Drop Cap

  1. Select the paragraph that already has Drop Cap, or place the cursor inside that paragraph.
  2. Click Drop Cap on the Insert tab.
  3. Choose None in the options.
  4. Confirm the setting and return to the document to check the result.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The first character returns to normal paragraph formatting.
  • Next actions: You can apply another Drop Cap style or continue with standard formatting.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If the selected paragraph does not already use Drop Cap, removing the setting will not affect other paragraphs.
