1. Add bullets or numbering
Entry path: Home tab → Bullets and Numbering area
- Select the text you want to turn into a list.
- Open the Home tab.
- Choose a bullet or numbering style.
- If you want more styles, tap the three-dot icon to see more options.
Success Criteria
- The selected text appears as a bulleted or numbered list.
- The list style is applied to the current paragraphs.
Tips While Using
- Select the target text first so you can apply the style in one step.
2. Promote numbering level
Entry path: Tools → Home tab → Promote numbering
- Select the numbered item you want to promote.
- Tap Tools.
- Open the Home tab.
- Tap Promote numbering.
Success Criteria
- The current numbered item moves to a higher level.
- The list hierarchy changes accordingly.
Tips While Using
- Make sure the paragraph is already part of a numbered list before you promote it.
3. Demote numbering level
Entry path: Tools → Home tab → Demote numbering
- Select the numbered item you want to demote.
- Tap Tools.
- Open the Home tab.
- Tap Demote numbering.
Success Criteria
- The current numbered item moves to a lower level.
- The indent and hierarchy display update.

4. Restart numbering
Entry path: Tools → Home tab → Restart numbering
- Select the numbered item you want to reorder.
- Tap Tools.
- Open the Home tab.
- Tap Restart numbering.

5. Continue previous numbering

6. Use automatic numbering
Entry path: Tools → Home tab → Automatic numbering toggle
- Select a paragraph in the numbered list.
- Tap Tools.
- Open the Home tab.
- Turn on Automatic numbering.
Success Criteria
- The automatic numbering toggle is on.
- Later list input can continue numbering more easily.
Tips While Using
- If numbering does not continue as expected after a line break, you can still adjust it manually.
7. Remove bullets and numbering
Entry path: Tools → Home tab → Bullets and Numbering area
- Select the paragraph that already has bullets or numbering.
- Tap Tools.
- Open the Home tab.
- Tap the remove icon in the bullets and numbering area.
Success Criteria
- The current paragraph returns to plain text.
- The bullet or numbering marker is removed.
Tips While Using
- After removing list formatting, check whether paragraph indentation still needs adjustment.
