How-to Guide
1. Add underlining from the Home tab
Feature entry: Home tab → Underline
- Select the text that you want to underline in the document.
- Click the Home tab at the top of the window.
- Click the Underline button in the font area.
Success Criteria
- An underline appears below the selected text.
- The text content stays unchanged and remains editable.
Tips While Using
- Select the text before applying underlining.
- Click the same button again to remove the format.
2. Add underlining from the floating toolbar
Feature entry: Select text → Floating toolbar → Underline
- Select the text that you want to underline in the document.
- Wait for the floating toolbar to appear.
- Click the Underline button on the floating toolbar.
Success Criteria
- The selected text is underlined immediately.
- You can finish the action without switching tabs.
Tips While Using
- The floating toolbar usually appears after text selection.
- If it does not appear, use the Home tab instead.
3. Set underline style from the right-click Font dialog
Feature entry: Right-click menu → Font → Underline style
- Select the text that you want to format.
- Right-click the selected text and choose Font.
- Find the Underline style drop-down list in the Font dialog.
- Choose the underline style you want and confirm the setting.
Success Criteria
- The text shows the selected underline effect.
- You can continue adjusting other font settings if needed.
Tips While Using
- This method is useful when you need to change the underline style.
- If you only need a standard underline quickly, use Ctrl+U.
4. Remove underlining
Feature entry: Home tab / Floating toolbar / Ctrl+U shortcut
- Select the text that already has underlining.
- Click the Underline button again, or press Ctrl+U.
- Check whether the line below the text has been removed.

- The text returns to a non-underlined state.
- Other text content and styles remain normal.
