- Click the Home tab.
- In the Styles area, choose a preset style such as Heading 1, Heading 2, or Normal.
- Click the target style to apply it to the selected text.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: The selected text shows the formatting of the chosen style.
- What you can do next: Continue editing or apply the same style to other paragraphs.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If you do not select text first, the style may apply to the current paragraph at the cursor.
- Environment note: Use this in an editable document.

- In the style gallery, right-click the style that you want to change.

Success Criteria
- On-screen result: The style definition is updated, and content using that style reflects the new formatting.

Tips While Using
- Common mistake: Changing direct formatting on one paragraph instead of editing the style reduces consistency.
3. Create a New Style from the Ribbon

- Select that formatted text.
- Click the arrow icon in the lower-right corner of the Styles area.

- Click OK to finish.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: The new style appears in the style list.
- What you can do next: Apply the new style to other paragraphs.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: A style name that is too similar to an existing one can make later reuse harder.
4. Modify a Style in the Task Pane

- Open Styles and Formatting in the task pane.
- Right-click the style that you want to modify.
