1. Apply italics from the toolbar

Entry: Editing mode → Tools → Home → Italic

  1. Open the document you want to edit and enter editing mode.
  2. Select the text that you want to format in italics.
  3. Tap Tools in the bottom toolbar, then open Home.
  4. Tap the I icon to apply italic formatting.
  5. To remove italics, tap the I icon again.

Success Criteria

  • Visual result: The selected text appears in italic style.
  • Next action available: You can continue typing, adjust other formatting, or save the document.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If no text is selected first, the italic button may not affect the intended content.
  • Environment note: You need to enter editing mode before formatting tools are available.

2. Apply italics from selected text controls

Entry: Editing mode → Long press to select text → Format → Home → Italic

  1. Open the document and enter editing mode.
  2. Long-press the text you want to adjust, then drag the selection handles to set the range.
  3. In the floating toolbar, tap Format.
  4. In the Home tab, tap the I icon.
  5. Confirm that the selected text is now italic.

Success Criteria

  • Visual result: The selected text appears in italic style.
  • Next action available: You can continue adjusting other text formatting or save your changes.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: An inaccurate selection range may leave part of the text unchanged.
