1. Apply strikethrough from the ribbon

Entry point: Select text, open the Home tab, and click Strikethrough.

  1. Select the text that you want to mark.
  2. Click the Home tab on the ribbon.
  3. Click the Strikethrough button.

Success Criteria

  • The selected text shows a single line through the middle.
  • The text remains visible and editable.

Tips While Using

  • Select the text first so the formatting result is easier to confirm.
  • Click Strikethrough again to remove the format.

2. Apply strikethrough from the floating toolbar

Entry point: Select text, then click Strikethrough on the floating toolbar.

  1. Select the text that you want to mark.
  2. Wait for the floating toolbar to appear.
  3. Click the Strikethrough button on the floating toolbar.

Success Criteria

  • The selected text immediately shows the strikethrough effect.
  • You can finish the task without switching to another menu.

Tips While Using

  • If the floating toolbar does not appear, use the ribbon or the right-click menu instead.

3. Apply strikethrough from the right-click menu

Entry point: Select text, right-click it, open Font, and select Strikethrough.

  1. Select the text that you want to mark.
  2. Right-click the selected text and choose Font.
  3. In the Font dialog box, select Strikethrough.
  4. Click OK.

Success Criteria

  • The text shows the strikethrough effect.
  • The format remains after the Font dialog box closes.

4. Apply double strikethrough from the right-click menu

Entry point: Select text, right-click it, open Font, and select Double strikethrough.

  1. Select the text that you want to mark with double strikethrough.
  2. Right-click the selected text and choose Font.
  3. In the Font dialog box, select Double strikethrough.
  4. Click OK.

Success Criteria

  • The text shows two lines through the middle.
  • The double-strikethrough format remains on the selected text.

Tips While Using

  • Double strikethrough is useful when you want a stronger visual mark.

5. Remove strikethrough

Entry point: Select text that already has strikethrough, then click the same strikethrough control again or clear the option in the Font dialog box.

  1. Select the text that already has strikethrough or double strikethrough.
  2. Click the same Strikethrough control again, or open the Font dialog box.
  3. Clear Strikethrough or Double strikethrough.
  4. Click OK to save the change.

Success Criteria

  • The text returns to normal display without strikethrough.
  • The original text content stays unchanged.

Tips While Using

  • Removing strikethrough does not remove other formatting such as bold or italic.
