1. Set a font from the ribbon

Feature entry: Home tab → Font dropdown

  1. Select the text you want to change.
  2. Click the Home tab.
  3. Click the Font dropdown.
  4. Select the font you want to apply.

Success Criteria

  • The selected text changes to the chosen font immediately.
  • New text can continue with the current font setting.

Tips While Using

  • If a newly installed system font does not appear, confirm that it has been added to macOS Font Book and restart WPS.

2. Set a font from the floating toolbar

Feature entry: Floating toolbar → Font dropdown

  1. Select the text you want to change.
  2. Click the Font dropdown on the floating toolbar.
  3. Select the target font.

Success Criteria

  • The selected text updates to the new font immediately.
  • You can finish the change without switching to another menu.

3. Set a font from the right-click menu

Feature entry: Right-click menu → Font dropdown

  1. Select the text you want to change.
  2. Right-click the selected text to open the menu.
  3. Click the Font dropdown.
  4. Select the target font.

Success Criteria

  • After the menu closes, the selected text shows the new font.
  • Unselected text remains unchanged.

4. Set a font size from the ribbon

Feature entry: Home tab → Font Size dropdown

  1. Select the text you want to resize.
  2. Click the Home tab.
  3. Click the Font Size dropdown.
  4. Select a size, or type a custom value and press Enter.

Success Criteria

  • The selected text displays at the target size.
  • A custom size takes effect immediately after you enter it.

Tips While Using

  • Use Control + ] to increase font size and Control + [ to decrease font size.

5. Set a font size from the floating toolbar

  1. Select the text you want to resize.
  2. Click the Font Size dropdown on the floating toolbar.
  3. Select the target size.

Success Criteria

  • The text size changes immediately.
  • You can continue adjusting other formatting from the same area.

6. Set a font size from the right-click menu

Feature entry: Right-click menu → Font Size dropdown

  1. Select the text you want to resize.
  2. Right-click the selected text.
  3. Click the Font Size dropdown in the menu.
  4. Select the target size.

Success Criteria

  • The selected text updates to the new size.
  • Other unselected paragraphs are not affected.

7. Set font and size in the Font dialog box

Feature entry: Home tab → Arrow icon in the lower-right corner of the Font group

  1. Select the text you want to change.
  2. Click the arrow icon in the lower-right corner of the Font group on the Home tab to open the Font dialog box.
  3. Set the Chinese Font, Latin Font, Complex Script Font, or Font Size in the dialog box.
  4. Confirm the settings to apply them.

Success Criteria

  • The text displays with the selected font or size.
  • Multilingual text can use different settings for different scripts.

Tips While Using

  • This method is useful when you need more detailed font control.

8. Embed fonts in a file

Feature entry: File menu → Writer Preferences → General & Save → Embed fonts in the file

  1. Click the File menu in the upper-left corner.
  2. Select Writer Preferences.
  3. Open General & Save.
  4. Select the Embed fonts in the file checkbox.

Success Criteria

  • After saving, the document keeps the current embeddable font information with the file.
  • When the file is opened on another device, the original layout is easier to preserve.

Tips While Using

  • Some fonts cannot be embedded because of font vendor copyright restrictions.

9. Use cloud fonts

Feature entry: Cloud font list in the Font dropdown

  1. Select the text you want to format.
  2. Open the Font dropdown.
  3. Browse the cloud font list and select the font you want.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to use or download the font.

Success Criteria

  • The selected text displays with the chosen cloud font style.
  • You can continue editing text that already uses the cloud font.

Tips While Using

  • Cloud fonts are provided by partner font vendors.
  • Some free cloud fonts are available directly, while more cloud fonts are related to membership benefits.
  • After membership expires, documents that already use cloud fonts can still be viewed and edited, but new cloud fonts cannot continue to be downloaded.
