How-to Guide
1. Find text
Entry path: Home tab → Find and Replace → Find
- Click the Home tab.
- Click Find and Replace.
- In the dialog box, switch to the Find tab.
- Enter a keyword in the Find what box.
- Click Find Next to move through matches one by one.
- If needed, click Highlight All to review all matches together.
Success Criteria
- You can see where the keyword appears in the document.
- After you click Find Next, the cursor moves to the next match.
Tips While Using
- You can use the shortcut
Ctrl+F.- If the keyword appears many times, confirm the match scope before continuing.
2. Replace text
Entry path: Home tab → Find and Replace → Replace
- Click the Home tab.
- Click Find and Replace.
- In the dialog box, switch to the Replace tab.
- Enter the original text in Find what.
- Enter the target text in Replace with.
- Click Replace to confirm one by one, or click Replace All for a batch update.
Success Criteria
- The original text is replaced with the target text.
- After a batch replacement, the app shows the number of replacements.
Tips While Using
- You can use the shortcut
Ctrl+H.- Before a large batch replacement, it is a good idea to save a copy of the document.
3. Replace formatting
Entry path: Home tab → Find and Replace → Replace → Format
- Open the Replace tab.
- Place the cursor in the Find what box.
- Click Format and set the original formatting to search for.
- Place the cursor in the Replace with box.
- Click Format and set the target formatting.
- Click Replace or Replace All to complete the update.
Success Criteria
- Content with the specified original formatting changes to the target formatting.
- The text itself can stay the same while only the formatting changes.
Tips While Using
- This is useful for unifying font, size, color, or other layout styles.
- Before a batch update, test the change on a small sample first.
4. Use wildcard find
Entry path: Home tab → Find and Replace → Find → Advanced Search
- Open the Find tab.
- Expand the advanced search options.
- Select Use wildcards.
- Enter a matching pattern in Find what.
- If needed, click Special to insert a common wildcard pattern.
- Click Find Next to review the matches.
Success Criteria
- The app searches by pattern instead of fixed text.
- You can move through content that matches the rule one item at a time.
Tips While Using
- Common wildcard patterns include
*,?, and^#.- If the pattern is complex, test it on a small sample first.
5. Use wildcard replace
Entry path: Home tab → Find and Replace → Replace → Advanced Search
- Open the Replace tab.
- Expand the advanced search options.
- Select Use wildcards.
- Enter a matching pattern in Find what.
- Enter the target content in Replace with.
- Click Replace or Replace All to complete the batch update.
Success Criteria
- Content that matches the pattern is replaced with the target content.
- After the batch replacement, the document remains editable.
Tips While Using
- Before replacing a complex pattern, run a normal find first to confirm the match scope.
- After a batch replacement, use Undo to review whether the result matches your expectation.
6. Go to a location
Entry path: Home tab → Find and Replace → Go To
- Click the Home tab.
- Click Find and Replace.
- In the dialog box, switch to the Go To tab.
- Select a target type such as page, section, line, footnote, comment, or graphic.
- Enter the related number or target information.
- Click Next to jump to the specified location.
Success Criteria
- The cursor jumps directly to the specified page or target location.
- After the jump, you can continue editing, reviewing, or updating the document.
Tips While Using
- You can use the shortcut
Ctrl+G.- This is useful for moving quickly through long documents.
